The Direct Archdiocesan District (DAD) Philoptochos chapter hosted Demetra at their premier biennial event to discuss motherhood, her faith, and her career. Philoptochos is the philanthropic branch of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and Demetra serves on the Board of her local chapter at The Church of Our Saviour in Rye, New York.

Gabby joined the Greenwich United Way’s Sole Sisters Luncheon sharing her signature strategies for manifesting success and happiness. The candid conversation helped GUW raise money for community solutions in the areas of education, self-sufficiency and health.

At a Holiday Luncheon hosted by Fairfield County LOOK, Demetra moderated a conversation with Celebrity Chef Alex Hitz, and Interior Designers Alex Papachristidis and Richard Mishaan. The men revealed an insider’s look at the worlds of luxury designing and entertaining, sharing secrets and palpable chemistry.

In Greenwich’s hallmark event celebrating the contributions and successes of local women, the YWCA honored a dozen fascinating philanthropists. The celebration praised this astounding group of volunteers, entrepreneurs and advocates, highlighting how each has changed the landscape of our beloved Town.

Demetra spent several days in Costa Rica teaching public speaking, media presence, and communications strategy to a dozen members of the 2023 class of Freedom Fellows. Each Fellow works in a non-violent movement, organizing support for citizens in their native countries who lived under oppression.

A quarter of a century of landmark funding to find a cure! Demetra teamed up with Fairfield
County LOOK to create an outrageous sizzle reel celebrating BCA’s national impact through
major investments in fellowships and research. Our community – in a sea of pink! – showed up
in force to fund this epic cause.

Under the backdrop of “Mykonos Nights” the YWCA Greenwich celebrated its incredible mission
of eliminating racism and empowering women. Demetra extolled the invaluable supporters of
YWCA and led a live auction that raised critical funds that will touch every segment of our
community.

In its signature event, Greenwich United Way gathered more than 400 women with a
mission to “step up to help others step forward.” Demetra hosted a lively conversation
with guest speaker Andrea Canning, correspondent at Dateline NBC and script-writer
for Hallmark.

On the celebration of her 87th birthday, Bedford Playhouse shared the powerful documentary Gloria Steinem: In Her Own Words. Demetra joined a panel of journalists, including ESPN’s Elle Duncan, and HLN/CNN’s Lynn Smith to discuss Gloria’s mission, the state of feminism today, and how we carry on the fight for equality.

As part of National Women’s History Month, NHS presented “Navigating Gender Inequality in the Workplace.” Demetra moderated a lively conversation with an esteemed panel including Dr. Dena Haritos Tsamitis, Maria Markou, and Doretta Mistras. The women highlighted their workplace experiences, brainstormed about how to overcome challenges, and celebrated how each overcame barriers in their respective fields.
